Stadtallendorf, August 2025. – The UNIKRAFT gummed tapes are among the top products in the Schümann range of packaging tapes. These tapes consist of two layers of Kraft paper separated by a laminated glass filament layer, and provide the cardboard packaging they seal with the maximum degree of protection against tampering, unauthorized opening and theft. With their sandwich design, the UNIKRAFT tapes are highly suited to sealing heavy parcels and for use in international supply chains with sensitive goods. With these filament-reinforced wet adhesive tapes, parcels and cartons are provided with a sealing and waterproofing closure – and one which significantly increases their static load capacity at the same time. If they are also glued on in the T or H format, they provide a strong degree of edge protection for corrugated and solid cardboard packaging. This is an important factor in the choice of closure, especially when increased mechanical stress on the packaging is to be expected during transport or if the cardboard packaging is stacked.

Experts in international logistics also call the UNIKRAFT wet adhesive tapes reinforced tapes, crosswise reinforced tapes or – due to their diamond-shaped lattice layer – diamond pattern tapes. Above all else, the high safety standard of the reinforced gummed tapes from Schümann is due to the inseparable material bond which their water-moistened adhesive coating establishes with the surface of the cardboard packaging immediately subsequent to application. After all, this gives cardboard packaging with the UNIKRAFT tape an optimum tamper-proof and theft-proof seal which can only be broken if it is destroyed – making the damage visible to all.

Visitors to this year’s Fachpack will be able to see the reliability and functionality of these parcel tapes for themselves at the Schümann booth in hall 3A (booth 3A-110). They will also be able to learn about how the UNIKRAFT packaging tapes – like all the company’s gummed wet tapes – can be applied both in highly automated packaging lines or manually with easy-to-use unwinders (dispensers). At the Fachpack, the company will also demonstrate how cardboard packaging can be upgraded as a whole by adding printing to the closing tape. These days, Schümann’s print service can deal with almost any customer requirement. Whether it’s barcodes, safety instructions, product information, transport tips, company logos, advertising messages or handling and assembly instructions: the options for providing the UNIKRAFT wet adhesive tape with a single-colour or multicoloured imprint are almost unlimited. In many cases, they can replace printing the cardboard packaging itself or the subsequent application of labels.

Individual design options, also for small production runs

As a rule, the customer is able to give their cardboard packaging a completely individual touch with a print and thus open up additional potential for optimisation. As Schümann now offers its print service from an order volume of 150 reels with a running length of 200 metres, this possibility for the technical, communicative and visual upgrading of the cardboard packaging is an extremely worthwhile offer, especially for companies with small and medium sized shipping volumes. In particular, online retailers and e-commerce providers are making increasing use of the additional leeway that the Schümann Print Service is able to offer them.

The configuration of the cardboard packaging has a major influence on the sustainability and security of a supply chain.
